Our courtroom victories have not only shaped Nebraska law but have changed lives. Some of our most impactful cases have even been featured on the national television program Insider Exclusive. Watch those episodes here and explore the landmark results that reflect our commitment to justice.

Ronald “Tim” Bacon v. DB Industries (DBI/SALA)
Verdict: $21,131,633 – Product Liability (Failure to Warn)
A paralyzed ironworker. A defective fall protection system. A jury that believed in justice.
Mr. Bacon fell 12 feet from the second story of the Qwest Center after a safety lifeline failed during an overhead crane operation. The original trial was lost — but we appealed, retried the case on the theory of failure to warn, and secured a record-setting verdict. Despite intense pain and daily challenges, Mr. Bacon never gave up — and neither did we.
“He had a spirit that would not give in, and we believe the jury recognized that.”

Art Carbajal v. Frontier Equipment & Melvin Havely
Verdict: $3,250,000 – Tractor-Trailer Collision
A routine morning commute turned tragic when a speeding 16,000 lb. truck slammed into Art’s vehicle, hurling it into a guardrail. Art’s life was forever changed. We told the jury the hard truth: that Art would be married to pain, every day, without relief. And we asked them to decide what that life was worth. They answered with a powerful message.
“He lost his job. His health. His dignity. Would you make that trade for $2 million?”

Jameson v. Liquid Controls Corp.
Verdict: $5,000,000 – Defective Equipment Explosion
A father and son preparing for a routine workday were betrayed by unsafe gasoline equipment. A defective meter and pump ignited an explosion that left Richard Jameson severely burned and permanently injured. At trial, we dismantled the defense’s excuses and made clear: this was preventable. This was corporate negligence. The jury made history with the largest personal injury verdict in Nebraska at the time.
“When I sit down, the jury controls my client’s future. I ask them to guard it well.”

Blazek v. Maul – Probation Officer Misconduct
Verdict: $1,000,000 – Federal Civil Rights Case
A trusted official abused his power, threatening our client’s freedom and safety for his own gratification. We exposed his manipulation, coercion, and harassment in federal court. The judgment sent a clear message: no one is above accountability, no matter their position.
Tried in partnership with Ian Sandefer and Jamie Woolsey.

Estate of Shane Wolfenden v. Hubert, Hilderhoff & G3 Enterprises
Verdict: $1,105,000 (before reduction) – Wrongful Death from Negligent Use of Commercial Vehicle
A midnight joyride. A company truck left running. A friend’s fatal decision.
Shane Wolfenden tragically died after falling from a trailer and being dragged over a mile down the highway. The case was fraught with legal hurdles: comparative negligence, assumption of risk, and poor odds in pre-trial polling. Still, we fought — and won. The verdict sent a clear signal that careless behavior has consequences, even when the law seems stacked against the victim.
“You can’t assume the risk of what you don’t know.”

Elevator Collapse – PTSD & Orthopedic Injury
Confidential Settlement
A poorly inspected and negligently maintained elevator collapsed three stories, causing serious physical trauma and long-term psychological injuries. We secured a confidential settlement that helped our client begin rebuilding their life.
“You can’t assume the risk of what you don’t know.”

Oliver v. Estate of Charles Mulford – Drunk Driving into Apartment
Policy Limits Settlement – PTSD & Property Damage
Just days before Christmas, a drunk driver plowed through our client’s living room, stopped only by her parked vehicle. The emotional trauma — compounded by recurring visions of her son being in harm’s way — led to a PTSD diagnosis. We fought for and recovered the maximum available through the driver’s and uninsured motorist policies.
“You can’t assume the risk of what you don’t know.”
